BANGALORE: The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Bangalore, will
offer virtual private network(VPN) services, set up a storage area network lab
and also a disaster recovery center in Bangalore shortly. These services the
first of their kind in India by any STPI will be offered to the IT companies
located in Bangalore to start with.
STPI Bangalore director, BV Naidu, remarked "in present times the issue of
security is of a major concern for the IT companies and so is the need of
securing networks, STPI will thus offer its Virtual Private Network Services to
different IT companies located in Bangalore". About 55 IT companies in
Bangalore have shown interest in availing our VPN service." He informed
that initially the services would be offered in Bangalore only.
BV Naidu further informed that STPI would also set up a Storage Area Network(SAN)
Lab and a disaster recovery center in Bangalore. He said that for setting up the
Storage Area Network Lab and the disaster recovery center, STPI has signed a MoU
with Brocade Communications. Under the agreement Brocade will be providing fiber
based disaster recovery equipment worth $100,000 for the STPI’s disaster
recovery lab and the storage area network center.
He also remarked that the lab and the center are expected to come up within a
three months time frame and the services being offered would be of immense use
for the medium and small scale IT companies that are looking for these services.
