Sterlite is a pioneer of ribbon fiber optic cables in India and has supplied over 60 percent of the country's requirements of these specialized cables since 2003. Sterlite RIBBON-LITE fiber-optic cables are suitable for installation in cable ducts. These cables are ideally suited for bandwidth rich networks and are typically installed in the access network.

The cables are designed to operate from -30oC to +70oC, thus spanning all possible deployment conditions. These cables provide an efficient means to achieve high fiber density, thereby reducing the time per fiber required for installation.

K.S. Rao, CMO - Telecom, said: "Over the last three years, Sterlite has introduced 17 products that are designed for the rapidly evolving needs of the global and Indian telecom industry. We are grateful to BSNL for recognizing our capability of providing cutting-edge solutions for the Indian telecom industry."

Sterlite Optical Technologies currently has about 4 percent global market share for optical fibers.
