Stepping closer to a paperless filing of returns

NEW DELHI: The Government has approved implementation of Phase-II of the Tax Information Network (TIN) at a cost of Rs 100 crore. Stating this in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, minister of state for finance SS Palanimanickam added that the second phase would begin on July 1, 2005 and would consist of facilities for dematerialization of TDS certificates and electronic filing of Annual Information Returns. Dematerialization of TDS certificates will enable paperless filing of returns on Internet.






Palanimanickam further informed that Phase-I of TIN has become operational consisting of facilities for 'On Line Tax Accounting System' and electronic filing of TDS returns.
