Startup Circle: How is Quixy helping business users with no coding skills to automate workflows and processes?

Many enterprises aim to build functional software for internal infrastructure servicing and programs for customer communication. However, lack of time and resources hinders their business growth. In the current era, low/no-code platforms help businesses to rapidly build relevant applications and are becoming an emerging trend in the SaaS market. Quixy, a cloud-based mobile builder provides a comprehensive no-coding solution rather than simply developing an app.

With no-code tools, users can create custom applications for their data collection, design their personal workflows, and set up unique rules that will help them propel their businesses further. In conversation with CiOL, Gautam Nimmagadda, Founder and CEO, Quixy provides his insights on the industry and his venture.

What is Quixy about? Tell us about the team and the genesis of the idea.

Quixy is a no-code business application platform that enables business users and process experts to build simple workflows and complex data-centric end-to-end business solutions. We’ve simplified and abstracted the development process through an intuitive visual interface with no coding knowledge requirement. I have been working in the enterprise and business software space for more than 12 years. During these years, I have seen that every software project/implementation broadly goes through the following cycle:

Requirement understanding > Requirement / Gap documentation > Software Development, customizing, configuring, etc. > > Testing > Business User Testing > Requirement correction / Defect correction > Requirement Understanding

When a project goes through this cycle multiple times, which ends up happening quite a lot, it leads to time and cost overruns, frustrations, and loss of enthusiasm and momentum. A situation where the customer is delighted at the end of a software project/implementation was quite rare. This bothered me immensely, and I saw that this situation was not unique to us. It was prevalent in the software world. This became the foundational idea for Quixy – create customer delight by providing a platform that business users (citizen developers) can use to build software themselves (with little to no reliance on professionals) at break-neck speed.

Quixy is a fantastic team with members coming from diverse backgrounds and varied skills unified by one mission - democratizing software/application development. Quixy’s rapid growth is only because of the relentless work by the team. Every member of our team has an unwavering belief in our vision. Each of them has tremendous passion for their work and Quixy.

Which sectors in India have seen the boom in-app development?

Some of the industries that we have witnessed high digital adoption over the last year are manufacturing, logistics, construction, and healthcare, to name a few. App development has become prevalent throughout sectors and across a wide range of operations. Further, organizations have started realising the benefits of digitalisation with no-code.

What are the changes you are bringing into the market?

Quixy brings the right balance between an easy-to-use interface and the ability to build complex enterprise-grade solutions without writing any code. With this beautiful balance, business users (citizen developers) can actively build/participate in solution creation for their digitization/automation problems. It is predicted by Gartner that by 2023, the number of active citizen developers at enterprises will be at least four times the number of professional developers. Quixy provides an intuitive and comprehensive platform for this new breed of citizen developers to build high-quality solutions.

How are consumers adjusting to the challenges of no-code/low-code tech?

Organizations are quickly realizing the benefits the no-code paradigm brings. In addition to the direct benefits of time and cost savings, no-code increases innovation and employee morale in an organization. It is hard to see the logic of doing things the traditional way when disruption of current methods is possible and widely available to everyone. Thus, organizations are taking a plunge into no-code (though it is new for them) because of the clear and substantial advantages to their digital transformation plans. Any teething or change management challenges are being effectively addressed through best practices and smooth transition strategies.
