MCLEAN, USA:  Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR), a global information technology (IT) standards body for the retail automotive industry, published Draft Releases 4.2.3 and 5.1.3 on 28th December. Releases 4.2.3 and 5.1.3 include modifications to the Credit Contract, Parts Invoice, Parts Pick List, Standard Codes and Vehicle Inventory specifications to support requests made by STAR members including Chrysler Financial, Freightliner, Oxlo Systems, and RouteOne.

In addition to modifying existing specifications, release 5.1.3 also includes new Parts Price List messaging specifications. This group of specifications provides a common means of communicating parts catalogue information to dealers. These messages are intended to simplify the process of gathering and applying price revisions for dealers' parts inventory.

Participants in the Parts Price List development effort included Navistar and Freightliner, and unlike other standards development efforts STAR undertakes, this particular project was initiated by STAR's Dealer Advisory Group (DAG), comprising nine dealers.

The Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR) organization is the Information Technology (IT) standards organization for the retail automotive industry. STAR is leading the effort to implement voluntary IT standards throughout the automotive industry.
