Features: SMC Networks, a provider of networking solutions for the enterprise, small and medium enterprises and home users, has announced the launch of SMC8724ML3 and SMC8748ML3 TigerStack 1000 stackable 24 and 48-port Layer 3 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switches.






The SMC8748ML3 switch has 48 fixed 10/100/1000 ports, while the SMC8724ML3 has 24. In each of the switches, four of the ports can be upgraded with optional mini GBIC expansion slots for fibre connections. An optional one-port 10Gigabit XENPAK Module can be added to either of the switches for 10G uplink.





Both the switches have switching capacities as high as 156Gbps (48-port) and 108Gbps for the 24-port version.





The main features include: Managed 24/48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with 4 Gigabit combo ports (RJ-45/SFP), 1 module-slot, and 2 stacking ports; 68/116Gbps aggregated band width; wire-speed Layer-3 routing for maximum forwarding performance; IP/RIP, OSPF and VRRP and stackable up to 8 units, supports mixed stacking (SMC8724ML3 with SMC8748ML3).





Price: The SMC8724ML3 and SMC8748ML3 TigerStack 1000 stackable 24 and 48-port Layer 3 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switches are available at a price range of US$ 3,500 and US$ 5,200 through all the authorized channel partners of SMC Networks in the country.
