This announcement is significant because Sun Microsystems has announced end-of-life for the Sun Unified Development Server product. SunUDS was previously branded as Forte 4GL. Rob Marchant, president of SSI North America says that picking the correct partner for a conversion effort is essential: "You need to pick a company with Forte technology depth, conversion experience and a conversion toolset that can harvest the core business rules of your Forte applications. SSI meets those requirements, and also understands that Forte applications often supports mission critical business functions." SSI uses ISO 9000 and CMM Level 5 quality processes and develops automated regression test suites to guarantee the successful migration of Forte applications.

SSI North America has used the Forte 4GL since the original beta program in 1994 and has built Forte applications that approach 1 million lines of code.
