MUMBAI: Computer education and software services firm SSI Ltd. said on Friday
its board will meet on July 19 to consider restructuring operations into
independent lines of business.
The Chennai-based firm had indicated in April it was considering to spin of
its education business given the continuing decline in revenue and margins. The
revenue of the education business slipped 33 per cent in January-March from the
preceding quarter while operating margin fell to 2.5 per cent from 12.2 per
cent.
India's computer education firms which supply skilled manpower to feed its
software services industry, faced much negative sentiment as the tech sector was
rerated in the stock and job markets following the dotcom bust, the economic
slowdown and its impact on technology spending.
