Sprint to roll-out 4G LTE network in early 2012

NEW YORK, USA: As per a report on CNET, Sprint is planning to roll-out its 4G LTE network, based on the same LTE variant as Verizon’s network: FD-LTE, in early 2012.

The telecom service provider has already started field testing LTE equipment and might be ready to launch its network by first or second quarter of 2012, adds the report.

According to the report the new build out might cost between $4 and $5 billion, over the next three to five years.

There are also reports that the carrier will shut down its iDEN network by 2013.
