Work on the project began in January 2010.  Accenture will deliver a major enhancement to the School Cockpit system that will introduce new flexibility to existing business processes to better support the changing landscape of Singapore education. The enhancement will provide schools with more flexibility in tailoring the curriculum and assessment framework for students while responding more swiftly to diverse needs in the education system. In addition, an enhanced user interface will help improve teacher productivity and experience.

“The ongoing technology development and application support of the School Cockpit system will assist the Ministry of Education to manage education operations even more efficiently and productively,” said Vincent Wong, a senior executive in Accenture’s Health & Public Service practice.

The Ministry of Education requisitioned the school administration’s Web-based School Cockpit system, for Year 1 to Year 12 education (from Primary to JC). Accenture developed and deployed the system in 2001 and has been maintaining it since then.

The School Cockpit system serves over 300 Singapore schools, providing school administration support for 30,000 teachers and 500,000 students. The School Cockpit system is a fully integrated, web-based system that enables teachers to perform day-to-day School administration activities such as lesson planning, timetabling, attendance tracking, assessments and results, progression and awards. It encompasses a comprehensive and integrated suite of IT systems to support the administrative functions and operations in schools and promotes the productivity of teachers, heads of department and school leaders by facilitating management of school- and student-related information and work processes.
