Spirit AeroSystems - Infy set up a global engineering centre

BANGALORE: Spirit AeroSystems, world's largest independent supplier of structures for commercial aircraft today announced that it is teaming up with Infosys to set up an Engineering Center at the Infosys campus in Bangalore. The centre will focus on high-end engineering services including product development, design and analysis of airframe structures, engineering change management and stress engineering support. The Engineering Center will grow into a Global Virtual Real-time operation for Spirit AeroSystems.

Speaking on the occasion, Bob Waner, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Spirit AeroSystems said, “This is a great opportunity for Spirit AeroSystems to strengthen its presence in India. Infosys is our first Indian Engineering partner and the center at Infosys will play a key role in Spirit's strategic interest in India. We have grown our Infosys support of programs to 40 heads in 2005.The skills and talent offered by Infosys at the Global Engineering Center will be an extension to Spirit's engineering team, providing us much needed engineering scalability and flexibility."

Commenting on the partnership, Kris Gopalakrishnan, COO and Deputy Managing Director, Infosys Technologies Ltd., said, “We see the partnership as playing a key role in Infosys' focus on the Aerospace industry. The Engineering Centre will challenge Infoscions to apply their skills to cutting-edge global aerospace programs to provide world-class solutions.”
