KOLKATA: Kolkata based cellular provider, Spice Telecom plans to invest Rs 25
crore in expanding its network. Under the expansion, Spice will increase the
number of base stations and switch capacity, which is currently at about
150,000. The investments will be made over a period of five months, by which
time the company’s customer base is expected to rise to over 100,000.
The company will soon be concluding deals with a few application service
providers (ASP) to provide high end messaging services to its customers. One of
the services will enable customers to access stock market information on non-WAP
handsets too.
