BANGALORE: In an effort to spread its reach, Trend Micro has outlined its
strategy to target the small and medium business (SMB) segment in India. An
exclusive package for the Indian market and recruitment of Trend "Security
Partners" are some of the highlights of the plan.
The package is a three-product suite, comprising Trend Micro's award-winning
desktop solution PC-cillin, a five-user license for the Windows NT environment (TESS)
and SBP (Small Business Product) designed to offer enterprises a complete
security solution at the desktop and network level. Tailor-made for the domestic
market, the suite not only addresses current security requirements of the SME
segment, but also equips them with the technology and prowess to deal with
future security threats, and will be available at attractive price points
outlined by Trend Micro, exclusively for the India market.
Trend Micro is also in the process of completing the recruitment and training
of 15 second tier VARs / System Integrators. These "Security Partners"
will be dedicated business partners for Trend Micro, and will work together with
small and medium corporates to help them realize the importance of network
security in today's environment. In addition, select "Security
Partners" will be instrumental in driving Trend Micro's products and
services into the domestic SME market. The SME market in India accounts for a
whopping 44 per cent of all domestic IT spending.
Trend Micro channel manager- India Ajit Pillai said, "Our products are
designed to deal with future security threats, without the hassles of
upgradability/ redundancy at every step." As enterprises grow, they will
increasingly understand that antivirus is no longer a desktop utility, it is a
security issue in a networked scenario. This paradigm shift is going to drive
our business, Ajit Pillai continued.
