Spanco to rollout SWAN in Maharashtra

MUMBAI, INDIA: Spanco Telesystems & Solutions Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the company has received a contract to rollout statewide area network (SWAN) in Maharashtra.

ITI Ltd led consortium would execute the contract. ITI-Spanco will jointly implement the project and maintain it for five years on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model. The total value of the project would be approximately Rs 100 crores.

The network will provide statewide communication backbone connecting state headquarter (Mantralaya) to district collector offices and district offices to taluka (Tehasil) offices.

Government of Maharashtra, Department of Information Technology under SETU along with Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, New Delhi, are jointly funding the project.

A total of 366 offices would be connected under the network. All state government departments will utilize the network.

The network will provide facility to run Voice, Data & Video-based media applications and different departmental applications would run on this.

SWAN projects are planed under National e-governance action plan (NEGAP) of Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India.
