Sorry, iPad 2 is out of stock in India!

BANGALORE, INDIA: Within a day of announcing the availability in India the new version of Apple's tablet device, the iPad 2, is said to have gone out of stock! According to the Apple customer support and the Apple premium partners, Apple is working on availability of the product, but the second shipment would come only after 10 days.

According to store sales representative at Imagine, one of the Apple premium resellers at Bangalore, they had received about 120 units of iPad 2.

He said, “We started taking the pre-order around 12 hours prior to the launch and given the huge demand out there, the entire stock of 120 units got over within a day. The second slot of delivery is expected in 10 days.”

On inquiring at the customer and sales support of Apple Inc, the executive resonated that iPad2 is out of stock throughout the country.

He informed, “At present the products is available with Apple Premium Resellers and a few large format retailers. However, Apple lovers can place an order by paying 20 per cent of the price of the products in advance.”

The sensational tablet device is priced between Rs. 29,500 and Rs. 46,900, based on the memory — 16, 32 or 64 GB.

Madhu Madhavan, CEO and MD at Cubic Computing, enterprise reseller for Apple product in India said, “We are getting a lot of inquiries from our enterprise customers regarding iPad 2. The new products has a lot of advantages over its previous version like front- and back-facing camera for video calling, longer battery life, lighter for carrying around, host of new application and many more.”

He added that Apple has been preparing its channel line for the launch of iPad 2, the partners were trained about the various advantages, utility of the product.

“Apple shared its experiences of other countries and markets, where, and why customers were buying. What was bringing more inquiries and sales, and so on” he said.

Another enterprise reseller, requesting anonymity, shared that the reason for the high demand is the lagging availability of the product. Apple had discontinued shipment of iPad 1 in the country, due to the expected release of iPad2 and the subsequent launch.
