Blu-ray Discs offers a storage capacity of 25GB, close to five times the resolution of conventional DVDs, while the DVD16x offers an ideal solution for reliable backup with enhanced data stability, greater temperature adaptability, longer media lifespan and uninterrupted high-speed access to the data. The Blu-ray Dics better utilizes the space on the disc allowing approximately over 10 hours and 30 minutes of HD quality video. With high storage capabilities, the disc also support high-speed data transfer rate 2x, making the discs suitable for video recording as well as data storage and file backup.

Hiroyuki Ikemura, division head - Recoding Media and Energy, Sony India Pvt. Ltd, said, “The exponential growth DVDs as a recording media for movie, music or data files has been the driving force behind the development of DVD 16X. With these becoming harder to read at high speeds, Sony developed the DVD 16x lineup. We believe that both these mediums have the potential to bring a whole new level of entertainment and functionality to our customers.”

Incorporated with Sony‘s unique AccuCORE technology, both these optical media recording devices ensure reliable data recording, increased disc protection and enhanced durability. AccuCORE technology offers the key advantages such as scratch guard, archival reliability to prevent data/image corruption and deterioration, stable writing that reduces fluctuation as the disc spins, and temperature durability to prevent warping during severe changes in temperature and humidity.

The Blue Ray disc will be available in Rewritable and Recordable (write-once) format the DVD 16x Disc line up includes models in DVD±R and DVD-R format.
