Sony Ericsson extends its Walkman range of mobiles

NEW DELHI: Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of W550i and W900i, the latest additions to its Walkman series of phones announced recently.

The company also showcased the PDA phone P990i at the Mobile Expo 2005 being held in New Delhi from October 21 — October 24, 2005.

The W550i features a 1.3 mega pixel camera with 4 x digital zoom, full Internet browsing capability and a games console. It has a 176 x 220 pixel TFT display with video recording and full screen playback and 256MB user memory.

The phone is priced at Rs 16,500 and according to GM of Sony Ericsson's India operations Sudhin Mathur, this phone is currently available in the market. He added that the W900i would be available later this year, while the PDA phone P990i would be available in Q1, 2006.

Enumerating the features of P990i, Mathur said, “The P990i is a next-generation smart phone, which is Wi-Fi enabled, has a 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus and features a new hardware keyboard beneath the flip-down keypad. It also offers all the benefits of UMTS including video calling, high bandwidth multimedia downloads and the ability to browse the Internet with full HTML pages. Memory has been extended in order to handle all multimedia downloads and attachments.”
