STOCKHOLM, USA:  Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson's top executive Dick Komiyama said on Thursday there were signs of stability in the handset market.

"We see continued tough conditions ... There is a certain stability in the market, but it is on a low level," he said in a conference call after the company issued its second-quarter results.

Earlier on Thursday, the joint venture of Ericsson and Sony Corp., posted a second-quarter pretax loss in line with expectations and repeated its forecast for the global handset market to contract at least 10 percent this year.
