Sony equips VAIO X with flash memory

GURGAON, INDIA: Electronics major Sony launched its first flash-memory laptop series Vaio X, touted to be the thinnest product in the category. At 655 gm and half-inch thickness (13.9 mm), the laptop comes at prices of Rs 67,000 and Rs 85,000.

Using a new technological innovation, Sony will improve its laptop range with flash memory along with the existing models with hard disk. The use of flash memory prevents data loss in case of physical damage to laptops and hence the hard disks. The system becomes sleeker and faster with the help of flash memory.

Don't let its thin frame fool you. The sexy and slender X Series is brawnier than it lets on. Encased in lightweight-yet-durable carbon fiber, the X Series is built to help endure the bumps and knocks of daily use and travel.

For reinforced durability, the X features reliable solid state drive with no moving parts, seamless aluminum keyboard panel for structural rigidity and an 11.1 (28.2 cm) scratch-resistant widescreen display.

The special LCD delivers 100 percent colour saturation, ultra-bright LED backlighting and a 16:9 aspect ratio for a wider workspace. The X Series touch pad uses multi-touch functionality that's perfect for working on the go. Zoom in and out, flip through pictures, rotate items and scroll vertically and horizontally without even touching a mouse.

The laptop has in-built wireless technology and comes equipped with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium edition.
