Sonata Software to focus on e-commerce

BANGALORE: Sonata Software Ltd. said e-commerce would be a focus area for it in the future. The company told a meeting of analysts that it would build high-quality, cost-effective services around emerging technologies and focus on areas such as datawarehousing and groupware.



Sonata plans to continue with its strategy of diversified revenue streams to minimize business risks. The company earns around 20 per cent of its international revenues from e-commerce currently, according to a press release. Exports made up 50 per cent of its total revenues in the last fiscal year. Sonata proposes to develop its Indian market too with software solutions, to have a referral base for the international market.



The company plans to capitalize on partners such as Microsoft, Oracle, Lotus and Scala. It plans to build solutions for application development, Web enablement, re-engineering and business intelligence. Technology development would be built around technologies from Microsoft, Oracle and IBM. Sonata's research group will leverage the alliances to assimilate new technology, build on software services capability, establish reference customers and internationalize its offerings.
