Wi-Pics Mobile! is a digital imaging software application developed by UIS, which leverages mobile computing with barcode, magnetic stripe, and RFID scanning technologies and three user-defined data fields to instantly organize and upload pictures.

Using the Socket SoMo 650 handheld computer combined with a Socket scanning solution, event photographers take pictures while simultaneously associating the images to specific customers using magnetic stripe cards, RFID tags and plastic cards or envelopes pre-printed with unique barcodes. "Wi-Pics Mobile! and the SoMo 650 have been heaven-sent and are a blessing for everything that we do and more," said Mike Goldman, co-owner of One Rock Studio. "We've looked at other devices similar to the SoMo and found its versatility to be unparalleled. Socket has the best hardware technology available for the event photography business, and when you add in the Wi-Pics Mobile! software, you can't go wrong."

"Using Wi-Pics Mobile and the SoMo 650, we've been able to cut our administration and in-studio laboratory time in half and we've increased sales at least 35 per cent," said Mike Friedel, co-owner of One Rock Studio. "We pride ourselves on being the best in the industry and to do that, we utilize cutting-edge technology that facilitates fast turnaround time and results in increased customer satisfaction and more return business."

"Originally, Wi-Pics Mobile was intended for the event photography business, but we've been seeing a lot more business coming from other sectors including crime scene investigation, healthcare, and hospitality," said Tim O'Leary, director of operations at United Imaging Solutions. "One of the reasons we liked the SoMo 650 over other devices is because it supports higher wireless network security protocols, which is critical when dealing with sensitive information such as crime scene photos and customer credit card information. Our clients love the solution and are always amazed at how much it improves their workflow."

"United Imaging Solutions has developed a practical, cost effective application with a number of business-enhancing uses across the spectrum of professional photography," said David Bledsoe, senior product manager of handheld computer products at Socket Mobile. "We're pleased to be working with UIS and to have our SoMo 650 handheld computer as an integral part of the Wi-Pics Mobile! solution."
