“We have tied-up with Megamart for an exclusive laptop showroom in their retail under the name of Sogo. Already Megamart showcases almost all electronics items except IT products. This tie-up will enable Megamart to offer laptops, which has become the order of the day,” said Dinesh Nair, GM, Sogo Computers.

He also said that this tie-up would be replicated in other areas of Megamart too following the success of the showroom in Bengaluru.

Apart from this association with Megamart, the Master Affiliate for Dell in Karnataka is in the process of setting up exclusive Dell showrooms across the state.

Last month it opened one showroom in the suburbs of Bengaluru.  “We plan to open around 10 exclusive Dell retail outlets across the state this year and have already started the launches with the opening of an exclusive Dell outlet in Mangalore on October 6. The next one will open in Bijapur on October 19, 2008,” Nair claimed.

Nair averred that the tie-up with Dell has paid off for Sogo, as they are earning close to Rs 5-6 crore every month through the association with Dell.

FY 2007-08 was the resurgence year for Sogo, as the previous year it had to close few non-performing retail outlets in Bengaluru. Last fiscal Sogo posted a growth of 75 percent by posting revenue of Rs 175 crore. This year the company plans to take Dell products through at least 200 of its partners in Karnataka. Sogo has around 22 uni-brand and multi-brand retail outlets across Karnataka.

Speaking on the new tie-ups and retail expansion plans for Sogo, Nair said that the company is looking to establish its retail presence across the state and has no plans of opening any new hybrid outlet this year.

On the distribution front he said that Sogo has taken the national sub-distribution for Intel and has also recently tied up with Apple range of products for distribution across the state.
