A press release adds that this Voter Registration system will provide integration with the county's current VOTEC VoteSafe Electronic Poll Book. VOTEC is a proven and certified company in Texas, fully compliant with all requirements set by the Texas Election Administration Management (TEAM) statewide voter registration system, the company claims.

The VOTEC project team will begin immediately to convert Smith County’s voter data and prepare an implementation plan to install and train the election staff; taking advantage of all the benefits VEMACS offers in time for the November General Election.

Karen Nelson, Smith County Elections Administrator states, “After looking at VEMACS, I realized Smith County had an opportunity to acquire a complete Voter Registration system that has a proven track record and is fully supported by the same staff that supports my electronic Poll Books. I look forward to adding the VEMACS Election Management system in time for our General Election.”
