SoftArtisans intros OfficeWriter for developers

WATERTOWN, USA: SoftArtisans has announced the availability of OfficeWriter 4.5.1, the latest version of the reporting tool aimed at providing developers and information workers with dynamic, data-driven Excel and Word reports without requiring Office on the server.

OfficeWriter combines an intuitive Excel and Word API with unique integration to Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Microsoft SharePoint.

The following key capabilities are provided by OfficeWriter:

Add Excel and Word Reporting to Web Apps: OfficeWriter makes it easy to generate, read, and manipulate Excel and Word documents in C#, VB.NET, or any other .NET language. Analysts can now trade in their Excel VBA application for a true server-side solution

Report in Open XML XLSX and DOCX formats: OfficeWriter now supports the new XLSX and DOCX file formats in addition to the legacy binary formats XLS and DOC.

Enhanced SQL Server reporting services design and rendering: OfficeWriter adds XLSX and DOCX output to SSRS, so it’s possible to create reports with greater than 65k rows. Also, information workers can design SSRS reports themselves with a unique OfficeWriter toolbar hosted within Microsoft Office.

Integration with SharePoint: In OfficeWriter v4.5.1, specific methods have been added to enable SharePoint integration. It’s easy to write SharePoint features that add enhanced Excel and Word capabilities
