SoC market to exceed $58bn by 2010

SAN JOSE, USA: Present day electronic devices require chips that occupy a small footprint, consume less power, and provide high-speed capabilities. In recent times SoC has emerged as the answer to all these requirements. SoC are of two major product types - SoCs Based on Standard Cell, and SoCs Based on Embedded IP.

They are primarily used in computers, communication equipment, consumer electronic devices, and automotive applications. New end-use applications, which include mobile phones, and automotives, are driving market growth. 3D SoC and 90nm technologies are emerging as the leading SoC technologies owing to growth in respective end-use industries.

United States represents the world's largest SoC market, worth an estimated US$10.4 billion in 2007, as stated in a recent report published by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.
