SMS helped locate YSR's chopper: report

BANGALORE, INDIA: It was the SMS sent to the cellphone in the chopper that crashed on Wednesday near Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh killing Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy along with four others, which helped narrow down the search to 4 square kilometer area.

According to an NDTV report, the SMS was received by the chopper cellphone around 12.06 p.m, more than two hours after the chopper lost contact, helped search effort to locate the crash site. The cellphone of one of the passengers had received an SMS two hours after the crash.

Apart from YSR, Principal Secretary Subramaniam, Chief Security Officer, the pilot and co-pilot of the chopper had also died in the crash. The crash occurred as he was going to some remote village to interact with the people over there.
