The SMEs located in and around Nashik are even ready to pay more for laborers but to no avail. Out of the 3,000 odd industries in Satur area and Ambad, around 2,700 units classify as Small and Medium Enterprises. These SME's have employed temporary workers and have even recruited workers on contract basis.

But the shortage of skilled labor has hit these SMEs badly. The situation has aggravated and is even threatening the very functioning of these industries.

Therefore, the need of the hour is for these SME's to come up with novel initiatives through which they can attract skilled labor If not, closure will be the only alternative.
