KOLKATA, INDIA: Bombay Stock Exchange's (BSE) Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Exchange is likely to begin operation by March, a Business Standard report said.

In a seminar on “Listing on SME Exchanges; a new opportunity for raising capital” organized by Cuttack Management Association, Lakshman Gugulothu, CEO, SME Exchange, said “We are trying to launch it within March, but I could not say whether it will be before or after Union budget slated to be presented on March 14.”

Gugulothu also said that the response from eastern India is very encouraging and the Exchange is eyeing more and more entrepreneurs to get listed. “Approval has already been given to six SMEs to enter the capital market and seven more are in the pipeline.”

The SME Exchange offers some relaxations. SMEs with a post-issue paid-up capital of up to Rs 25 crore can list on it.
