Mumbai: ACNielsen CIO Jury Awards for Technology Innovation to recognize
Indian SMBs who innovatively used IT to address business challenges was
presented on Wednesday. Ten companies were finalized for the the ACNielsen CIO
Jury Award for Innovation using Technology.
Hikal Ltd, Mahyco seeds and Yes Bank from Mumbai, Nippo Batteries from Chennai,
Dhunseri Tea and Industries Ltd and East India Pharmaceutical Works Ltd from
Kolkata, MRO-TEK Limited from Bangalore, Solutions from Ahmedabad, Hans Plaza
Hotel from Delhi and Sahil Resorts & Agrifield Farms Pvt Ltd from Pune were
named winners.
Speaking on the occasion, Monica Deveshwar, Director Technology Research
ACNielsen India said “Innovation is the key to success and has the potential to
be the distinctive 'one of its own mantra' for growth. With this background,
ACNielsen is honouring companies from Indian SMB sector who have thought of
innovative ways to drive growth through the use of technology. We recognize the
significance of innovation and have instituted “ACNielsen CIO Jury award” to
honour companies who have impacted business financials, productivity and
addressed business challenges through innovative adoption of technology”.
Rajeev Batra, Corporate Sponsor - Group IT & Technology, Reliance ADA Group -
Chairman Office commented, “With the exponential growth, Indian economy is
riding. SMB segment is the area of opportunity for Information Technology &
Communication players. The infusion of innovative and compelling technology

MD Agarwal, Chief Manager IS Refinery System, Bharat Petroleum Corporation
Limited said “The biggest challenge is mindset of business heads. The other
challenge is opportunity for IT companies to offer suitable scalable solutions.
The advice is that SMBs should take risks and adopt technology to facilitate
business. It is expected that in next 3-5 years multiple solutions will emerge
for SMBs.”
Anantha Sayana, Head- Corporate IT — L&T Ltd said “Certain minimal investments
in IT in the form of Desktops, Laptops, Networking, Office products &
Communication software are a must for any business today, even SMB's. In
addition, they need specific applications to meet these business needs. The
challenge for the SMB's is to make their managements see value in the
investments and not to travel the conventional route of the heavy ERP
implementations, but to look at specific niche IT projects that can make a
difference to their business.
The winners were selected based on metrics like scale of impact measured by
business gains, scale of project implemented and financial impact assessment of
the project.
