SMB, the new growth mantra for UGS

Mumbai:UGS Solutions, a product lifecycle management solution provider, is eyeing the SMB segment to fuel its growth. The company is also planning to increase strength of its existing development center in Pune. The company was focusing more on its high-end customers in automobile and other verticals till now. UGS India marketing head Vivek Marwaha said, "We're providing latest tools in CAD/CAM segment and we hope that we would be able to penetrate the SMB segment in big way."



The company with its CAD/CAM solution 'Solid edge' is transforming its customers to 3D 'Solid edge' from the legacy 2D CAD/CAM solutions. "Most of our customers are already on 3D Solid edge and this solutions is compatible with the 2D CAD/CAM solution of other vendors. SO the customers can upgrade their solutions by paying a minimal cost," said Marwaha.



The company has around 1,500 seats right now and is planning to increase this to 10,000 by the end of this year with major focus on enterprise. The company is also planning to ramp-up the size of its Pune development center. Around 300 people are currently working in the Pune facility and the company is planning to almost double the capacity soon.



The company has also started providing complete software solutions for PLM and CAD/CAM is just a part of it. The other two important aspects of this end-to-end solution are data management and collaboration tools.
