UK: ChangeBASE AOK has released the v3.0 of its testing solution designed to automate the application compatibility testing process. Major enhancements over previous versions include automatic updates and downloads of new functionality for maintenance customers, a virtualistaion pack, increased reporting functionality and full version of Convert-IT, the revolutionary conversion technology for reading applications for compatibility checking within the AOK environment.
The virtualisation pack reporting has increased by 50 percent giving comprehensive coverage and delivering automatic fixing capabilities, further simplifying the route to virtualised deployments of applications.
The core report pack of platform integrity has had a significant boost with the addition of full API runtime analysis reports; identifying the issues that an application will encounter during its operation and automatically and reassuringly catching far more than simple manual compatibility testing scenarios.
AOK gives a full dependency and API analysis on every application. Instantly checking thousands of deprecated and restricted objects against every dependency and every external procedure call made by the application.
“One of the biggest difficulties that organisations face concerns their middleware dependencies,” said John Tate, managing director, ChangeBASE. “Whether they are thinking of deploying to a standard windows environment or to a virtualised environment, this new version offers the ability to load applications and automatically create their own middleware plugins with a single click, analysing their application portfolio for middleware dependencies AND automatically cleaning up applications that contain unwanted middleware fragments in their packages.”
The automated conflict management report and fix module has been significantly improved and gives pragmatic and speedy conflict management solutions, to meet the demands of organisations who want to reap all the benefits of applications co-existing without suffering time consuming, complicated, remediation headaches.
AOK has been significantly upgraded to support many methods of applying fixes; they can be applied to the original MSI and also be deployed into transforms, with the changes being created in new transforms or rolled up into a single MS, giving full flexibility to comply with whatever standards the host organisation might employ. In addition, many areas of the application now employ multithreading so that non sequential operations happen much more quickly (like MSI loading).
The application is able to take full advantage of multi-cpu processing, particularly noticed in another new feature, the bulk load, allowing an organisation to load thousands of applications by running a simple command line script. The performance of the application has been enhanced and is significantly quicker than before but with the benefit of greater functionality.
