MUMBAI, INDIA: Not one to miss an advertising opportunity, Facebook is seeing one even in smart watches!!!

Dave Jakubowski, Head, Ad Technology, Facebook, believes that smart watches are an opportunity to show advertising to consumers.

Speaking at the Collision Conference, he asserted, "Smart watches are absolutely an advertising opportunity. “But are the ads any good? Only if we evolve and make them good. We have to figure out how what our application does fits in the user’s world. The real challenge will be in developing an ad format that works in this environment."

Facebook has earned majority of its revenue from mobiles in the last year. In its latest earnings report, the social media major reported 69 percent of its overall ad revenue came from mobile in 2014—a 16 percent jump over 2013.

It would therefore, not be surprising if Facebook would release an official ad app on the Apple Watch and ties-up with other vendors specializing in wearables.
