"There can be no PLM if we cannot enable large OEMs and advice manufacturers to connect the SMBs. PLM goes beyond manufacturing alone. Our ambition is to provide PLM for enterprises of all sizes and we believe 3D is a key technology to achieve this," Georgeon notes.

"When it comes to small and medium businesses (SMBs), they want the best cut, but they don't have the size. In order to enable these companies access the technology, we have packaged the CATIA PLM Express. The PLM is easy to install and has high expectation with the solution because it has high potential."

"Small or big, enterprises want the best; to have access to the best technologies for PLM. We want to enable our customers do realistic simulations through 3D - that is, you can see what you mean," he adds.

"We have packaged the technology to ease the access in all sense. When it comes to pricing for the SMBs, price is a difficult topic if you are not in a position to explain the value," he says. "We all know how price sensitive the industry is in China, and it is the same challenge here too."

Dassault's entry to India

"Our offerings depend on the strength of the industry in the respective local region. India has shown an impressive change in the last decade and has a huge potential. Though the automotive segment is our focus area in India, we are also targeting at markets like automotive supply chain, aerospace, ship building, equipment manufacturing, fabrication and assembly," says Kailash Munipella, National Manager, Channel Sales, India, Dassault Systemes.

"Indian SMBs have changed and are talking to global companies, and are ready to invest in a big way. This is the paradigm shift that the Indian SMB market has witnessed. I must admit that we have a lot to learn from the SMBs. They have a different economic model," he adds.

Further, Munipella says: "There has been rapid adoption of the product across key vertical segments. SMBs have grown from Rs 100 crore to Rs 1,000 crore company and want to become a billion dollar company. That's a great development. We are looking at them as our key customers and this is clearly an entry point for us."

Dassault's channel partners will promote the CATIA PLM Express in India. There has been dramatic development in terms of the industry here, with a similar environment as that of China and Beijing, adds Georgeon.
