'Small business is big biz' is today's mantra

MUMBAI, INDIA: Internet will play an important part to enhance SME’s ability to reach to its direct consumers in a big way, starting with Web presence growing to online advertising, according to Namit Pandey, director and head — Yahoo! Small Business.

He was speaking at the ‘Small Business Conference and Awards 2011’ organized by Franchise India organized in association with Entrepreneurs India advisors and the Nasscom here on Tuesday.

Giving insights about the event, Franchise India’s president Gaurav Marya said, “Small Business 2011 mantra is small business is big business. The show is a great platform to bring out greatest business opportunities in today’s exciting small business world.”

Speaking on the occasion, Lakshman Gugulothu, CEO, BSE SME Exchange, opined that BSE SME Platform provides a great opportunity to the entrepreneurs to raise the equity capital for the growth and expansion of SMEs.

“The SME platform also provides immense opportunity to investors to identify and invest in good SME companies at early stage. It will help unleash the valuation of the company and in the process create wealth for all the stakeholders including investors, besides considerable long term capital gains tax benefits and facility to exit at any point of time,” he added.

'Small Business Congress 2011' unlocked greatest opportunities in today’s exciting small business environment as it opens new business avenues in products or services. The congress explored the environment for creating new business ideas, securing funding for growth, building teams, and concrete ideas to compete against giant businesses.

The conference also provided a platform to the new generation employer to showcase his brand to the world of small businesses and get increased exposure for his business. It is aimed at garnering the hidden potentials of entrepreneurs and their businesses which are in the initial stages, and the show is supported by Ministry of MSME, National Small Industries Corporation Ltd and Indian Franchise Association.
