S.Korea's SK Telecom plans to launch 4G services

SEOUL, S.KOREA: SK Telecom Co Ltd, South Korea's top mobile carrier, said on Wednesday that it plans to roll out commercial Long-Term Evolution (LTE) services in Seoul in the third quarter of this year, to support high-speed data services.

SK Telecom, which controls half of the country's mobile market, previously said it planned to provide commercial LTE or fourth-generation (4G) services in 2011 with nationwide coverage by 2013.
