According to a McAfee statement, its SiteAdvisor Plus is a premium product that extends the value of McAfee SiteAdvisor, the world's first safe search and browse technology.

McAfee SiteAdvisor, available as a free tool, pioneered Web safety by testing more than 95 per cent of the trafficked Web for spyware, adware, spam, browser attacks and online scams. These test results are used to develop site ratings, which are communicated to end-users via intuitive red, yellow and green icons.

More than 250 million times each day, consumers use these ratings to advise them about which sites are safe and which are not.

"McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus is a strong complement to McAfee's easy to use and comprehensive consumer product line. This product extends to IM and e-mail communications the 'early warning system' SiteAdvisor pioneered for browsing, searching and transacting online," said Bill Kerrigan, executive vice president, of McAfee Consumer. "Coupled with our security suites, McAfee delivers proven, integrated protection at each step of a consumer's computer experience."

Key features of McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus include, protected mode, link checker, and Advanced Phishing detection tools.

"Consumers have been asking the security industry for years for a simple tool to help friends and family stay safer online," said Doug Wyatt, Director of Engineering, McAfee SiteAdvisor.

"With SiteAdvisor Plus, McAfee delivers that tool. SiteAdvisor Plus is an easy to use yet powerful program that extends and enforces SiteAdvisor's proprietary safety ratings from surfing, searching and transacting online into e-mail and instant messaging," he added.
