Silver Software merges with Germany's Atena

BANGALORE, INDIA: Silver Software, a provider of software and safety engineering services for high integrity systems, announced on Thursday its merger with Atena Engineering Gmbh, the technology and systems business based in Munich, Germany.

This merger will constitute the formation of one of the largest independent service companies worldwide in the growing market of safety-critical electronics, said a press release.

Silver Software, the Anglo-Indian company, and Atena Engineering will now form a new organization called Silver Atena.

The new company combines Silver Software and Atena’s 10-year track record of delivering successful projects on major programmes such as the Airbus A380, Boeing 787, BMW Hydrogen Project and the European Rail Traffic Management System, said a press release.

Silver Software is a privately owned company with offices in the United Kingdom, India and Spain.

Atena Engineering, founded in 1998, is a subsidiary of the $1 billion, Assystem Group, since July 2005. Senthil Kumaran, MD of Silver Atena, India said, “This relationship will allow Silver Atena to offer a unique proposition to both our current clients and the broader high integrity systems market.”

According to him, the merger will synergize state-of-the-art technology from India and Europe and thereby provide a strong platform for Silver Atena’s next phase of growth.

“With this merger Silver Atena will continue to offer a wide spectrum of technological know-how, excellent performance and cost-effective solutions for the ongoing market requirements,” said Josef Mitterhuber, MD of Silver Atena Germany.

Operating predominantly in the aerospace, defense, rail, automotive and gas turbine domains Silver Atena offers a proven business model combining European expertise and the benefits of offshore delivery through world-class development centers, the release added.
