These new ASICs, which will enable hash rates at unprecedentedly low power consumption, will be available in all four of SiliconArt's product lines, ranging from the pocket-sized USB-driven Wasp line to its intensive Godzilla model, intended for higher capacity mining.

With the exception of the Wasp, all of SiliconArt's devices are designed to fit into industrial-standard server racks, allowing many of those devices to be run in parallel in a standard server farm environment. The introduction of the 40nm ASIC provides meaningful performance differentiation and enables significantly lower operating expenses for the user.

"Manufacturing a device for cryptocurrency mining requires a combination of intensive computing in order to solve algorithms, and low power in order to make this cost-effective," says Laszlo Erdelyi, CEO and GM of SiliconArt.

"Our new 40nm based designs enable an optimal balance of the two, allowing miners to perform calculations at a fraction of the cost incurred when using currently available solutions. GigOptix is a natural partner for us as we move to more advanced designs, as they have proven to be an extremely capable partner on our previous design engagements.

"GigOptix implemented our Register Transfer Level (RTL) flawlessly, bringing our product to market with a very short productization cycle, and ensuring first-time success for our products on introduction. The GigOptix ASIC Sunrise program is a natural fit for these newer process nodes, and we are proud to have chosen GigOptix as our ASIC partner for the current project as well as our future generations of design."
