Silicon Graphics, Autodesk launch new workstation

NEW DELHI, August 30: Silicon Graphics launched a new workstation with

multimedia software provided by Autodesk. The Silicon Graphics 320 visual

workstation is based on two Pentium III processors and offers 2D and 3D

graphics, multimedia, video and multiprocessing at a low price. It is

created especially for visual computing professionals and is a part of the

desktop workstations.

SGI has built in Integrated Visual Computing (IVC) architecture and a

Cobalt graphics chipset. It has scalability up to 1GB ECC SDRAM and a

standard ultra ATA with up to 28GB disk capacity. It even has an optional

Ultra2 SCSI with up to 18GB disk capacity. According to Ronna Lara-Bes, a

demo artist from Autodesk, the targeted segments are game developers,

filmmakers, 3D commercial artists', etc.
