The company has pioneered the standards, facilities and services in the data center space in India ever since it launched the country’s first level 3 data center at the Infotech Park in Vashi, Mumbai in September 2000.

The company subsequently invested in centers in Chennai and Bangalore with increasing levels of sophistication and capability. The Airoli center is positioned to cater to the growing demand from India’s commercial capital, Mumbai.

PJ Nath, Executive President, Sify Enterprise Services said, “The Airoli data center is a key facet of our strategy to develop the most sophisticated network and data center infrastructure in the country. The Airoli center will be followed by at least two more—one each in New Delhi and Bangalore, over the next eight quarters.”

MP Vijay Kumar, CFO, Sify Technologies said, “We have been investing for growth in the capacity of our backbone infrastructure, expansion of the network to over 500 points of presence. The Airoli data center at an investment, when complete, of $36 million (Rs 150 crore) is a significant part of this process. Our total investment in data centers over the next two years is likely to be about $100 million (Rs 400 crore) to meet the growing demand for such services from both the domestic market and overseas markets.”
