NEW DELHI, INDIA: Siemon, provider of network infrastructure, has announced the launch of LockIT, a complete line of secure RJ45 network connectivity. Featuring a secure, tamper-proof outlet lock and lockable patch cord, this system protects against unauthorized port access in unused outlets as well as deterring patch cord removal.

LockIT outlet locks and patch cords require no specialty connectivity and can be utilized to secure nearly any RJ45-based network infrastructure. The LockIT system is designed to provide physical layer security without adding complexity or impacting overall functionality and density.

The LockIT outlet lock snaps securely into any industry-standard RJ45 port, blocking cord access and preventing tampering such as the insertion of foreign objects into the outlet.

Removable only with a specially designed key, the lock fits flush within the outlet providing full access to adjacent ports regardless of density and is brightly colored to allow network personnel to quickly identify locked ports. These new secure components are system and cabling performance category independent, allowing it to secure active equipment ports, patching environments and work area connectivity.

LockIT patch cords lock automatically when inserted and require the key to be safely disengaged. Like the outlet lock, LockIT patch cords are compatible with RJ45 interfaces and can be used with both active equipment and modular connectivity in the patching field or work area.

The LockIT patch cord features a low-profile locking mechanism that does not obstruct access to ports above or below the cord in most high-density applications while still providing easy key access for authorized removal. The lock is integrated into a slim-line boot, allowing side-stackability in extremely dense patching environments. They are available in 10 Gb/s category 6A F/UTP (screened) and UTP constructions as well as category 6 UTP. Both the LockIT outlet lock and patch cords utilize the same key, included with the system.

"The obvious benefit is a very cost-effective and easily-implemented deterrent against malicious access to the network infrastructure through unsecured connectivity," explained Rajesh Kumar, Country Manager, The Siemon Company. "But LockIT is also an excellent way to protect against accidental connectivity errors, acting like a 'lock-out/tag-out' system for the network infrastructure. We see great interest in such a solution in public areas including conference rooms, airports and classrooms.

This simple, effective product is suitable for industries such as transportation, finance, retail, hospitality, and education, as well as in mission critical applications such as data centers."
