Siemens wins $24 m German Federal contract for BI

GERMANY: Siemens IT Solutions and Services has won a three-year contract from the Bundesagentur fur Arbeit BA, Germany's federal employment agency, to upgrade and optimize its BI and data warehousing system. Datamonitor estimates the contract to be worth $24 m.

The company will provide consulting for system and application architecture, quality management, as well as implementation, deployment, and support.

Siemens had already merged data from 80 separate applications of the agency into a central database to deliver information on employment rates, job seekers, services provided or approved training measures, at federal, state, and local levels.

Gisela Fuchs, head of Siemens IT Solutions and Services' public-sector division, said: "We are delighted to prolong our long-term cooperation with the BA and to use our IT know-how and technical expertise to support the agency further. The business intelligence solution helps the BA to manage its operative tasks in an optimum manner."
