Siemens to implement EDMS at NTPC

NEW DELHI, August 24: Siemens

Information Systems Ltd. (SISL), a joint venture of Siemens Ltd. (India)

and Siemens Nixdorf Information System of Germany SISL with a turnover of

Rs 135 crore, will design, develop and implement the Electronic Document

Management System (EDMS) at National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

The Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) will form the backbone

for all the IT & design automation activities in the engineering

functions at NTPC. NTPC is also planning to extend the EDMS capabilities

into the knowledge management zone by creating more subsystems in the area

of configuration management in the future.

SISL Director A.S. Viswanathan said, "It has become necessary for

Indian corporates, especially those engaged in engineering activities, to

opt for an EDMS." Further, he added that EDMS managed a streamlined

design process environment for managing large engineering projects and

thereby saved on both time and cost. The scope of the implementation by

SISL will include design, development of Electronic Document Management

System (EDMS) in the Engineering department. EDMS is based on Metaphase

technology from SDRC Inc, USA.
