NEW DELHI, August 24: Siemens
Information Systems Ltd. (SISL), a joint venture of Siemens Ltd. (India)
and Siemens Nixdorf Information System of Germany SISL with a turnover of
Rs 135 crore, will design, develop and implement the Electronic Document
Management System (EDMS) at National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
The Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) will form the backbone
for all the IT & design automation activities in the engineering
functions at NTPC. NTPC is also planning to extend the EDMS capabilities
into the knowledge management zone by creating more subsystems in the area
of configuration management in the future.
SISL Director A.S. Viswanathan said, "It has become necessary for
Indian corporates, especially those engaged in engineering activities, to
opt for an EDMS." Further, he added that EDMS managed a streamlined
design process environment for managing large engineering projects and
thereby saved on both time and cost. The scope of the implementation by
SISL will include design, development of Electronic Document Management
System (EDMS) in the Engineering department. EDMS is based on Metaphase
technology from SDRC Inc, USA.
