The company already supplies chips for wireless, high-definition consumer electronics products from LG Electronics, Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, Gefen, Monster, and Best Buy.

In a statement, SiBeam also said its second-generation chipsets, consisting of the SB9210 RF transmitter and the SB9220 network processor, are going into mass production.

According to SiBeam, the IP licensing programme is aimed at allowing other chip-manufacturers to embed 60-GHz wireless connection for other segments within the personal computer and the consumer electronics sectors.

The company said it is keen on joining hands with industry leaders and as well as in giving incentives to develop fixed as well as portable WirelessHD audio-visual applications. It will provide participants in the programme with access to its full SB9220 chipset IP core – which includes the MAC, PHY and embedded beam steering algorithms, the SB921x WirelessHD RF transceiver interface, the WirelessHD SB9220 technical training, verification environment and IP documentation.

SiBeam said its second-generation chipset can be designed into home-theatre systems, set-top boxes, audio-visual receivers, mediacenter PCs, and Blu-ray players. The SB9211 RF Receiver chipset and the SB9221 Network Processor can be used in monitors, digital televisions, and front-projectors.

SiBeam’s second-generation chipset contains integrated HDMI, LVDS communications, and 3-D video support.
