The decision is seen a first move towards the 'generation next' at the HCL Group, which has controlling stakes in HCL Infosystems and HCL Technologies.

Shiv Nadar, who hitherto held these positions, will continue to head the corporation as its chairman. Nadar said on Wednesday that Roshni took over in the new post from April.

As CEO and executive director, Roshni will be responsible for strategic decision making at HCL Corporation, said a press release.

While announcing the appointment of Roshni, during a function in Chennai, Shiv Nadar said his daughter’s role will be confined to just HCL Corp. She will not be involved in the day-to-day operations of HCL Technologies, which is India’s fourth-largest software services exporter, and HCL Infosystems.

HCL Corporation holds about 50 per cent stake in HCL Technologies and about 44 per cent in HCL Infosystems.

In another 'generation-next' development, Wipro chairman Azim Premji's son Rishad Premji had also taken over on Wednesday his new role in Wipro as its general manager, treasury and investor relations.
