Shankar Aggarwal moved to defence ministry

BANGALORE, INDIA: Shankar Aggarwal, additional secretary of the department of IT, has been moved to the ministry of defence. He will take charge on January 2. His successor's name is yet to be announced.

Known for his e-governance initiatives, he believed that e-governance defended the right of citizens to efficient public services.

A 1980 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Shankar earlier worked as joint secretary in the ministry of information technology.
