BANGALORE,INDIA: Serena Software will score a "hat trick" this year by providing three solutions via Software as a Service (SaaS) – Serena Mariner (Project and Portfolio Management), Serena Business Mashups, and Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools. SaaS provides significant benefits for companies with no infrastructure to manage, no software to install, faster time to value, subscription pricing, better support, and immediate access to upgrades as they become available.

Serena Mariner first product to go SaaS

In the first of many steps toward delivering a complete line of SaaS-enabled products, Serena will make one of its key offerings, Serena Mariner, available on demand within the next 30 days. Named a Leader in Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) tools by Forrester, Serena Mariner provides total visibility into project status and metrics to ensure the right people are on the right projects at the right time, ultimately delivering more value to the business. With prices starting as low as $18 per user per month, Serena Mariner gives business people a way to manage projects quickly and easily without creating unwieldy spreadsheets in Excel. All Serena products delivered via SaaS will have published pricing and discount schedules.

Serena's on-demand offerings have the potential to provide immense value to individual departments as well as the globally distributed enterprise. Serena Business Mashups are already available on premise; now, the next logical step is to give customers additional choice by offering Business Mashups through SaaS.

As consumer and Web 2.0 technologies move into the workplace, companies are switching from traditional installed software to on-demand offerings—and Serena aims to be at the forefront driving business value with products that help companies and business people within them become more productive.

Jeremy Burton, Serena CEO, said, "The Internet simply provides a better way to deliver software to our customers. There is no infrastructure for them to manage, they are up and running more quickly, and they pay for the value received through a monthly subscription. This is the future of the software industry, so we are starting to migrate all of our internal systems to the SaaS model – Salesforce.com, Marketbright, Postini, and Facebook are just the start for us."
