Sensex rises as FM allows FIIs in mutual funds

MUMBAI, INDIA: Indian equities markets rose after some positive news on Monday in the general budget being presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Mukherjee raised the limit for funds to be invested by foreign investors in the Indian infrastructure sector and also allowed mutual funds to accept foreign funds.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,811.08 points, rose to 18,219.72, up by 518.81 points (2.93 per cent) by 2 p.m. IST, from its previous close at 17,700.91 points.

Broader markets also were trading in the green.
