Seiko Instruments reduces package size of its 32kHz SCX quartz crystals

NEU ISENBURG, GERMANY: The new quartz crystal SC-20S is another 32.768kHz model of SCX series by Seiko Instruments with smaller, thinner and 100 percent Pb-free SMD ceramic package. Thus SC-20S is qualified even more for portable and other applications demanding PCB with very high component density.

SC-20S is available with a load capacitance of 7pF, 9pF or 12.5pF. Quartz crystals are used as precise clock generators for low power systems like watches and other RTC applications, WDT and for the secondary clock function of microprocessors in standby and sleep mode to minimize power consumption.

The SCX quartz crystals use a tuning-fork resonator processed in a photolithographic technology, which assures high reliability, low aging and excellent shock and heat resistance. Ion gun trimming method allows very tight frequency tolerance over a wide temperature range.
