Searching online for ways to get pregnant!

BANGALORE, INDIA: Despite crossing the billion mark a few years back, the average Indian is still confused about pregnancy, it seems! Or that is the indication given by Google India's Top Searches of 2010 - Google Zeitgeist 2010.

A result that shows the trend of approaching the net as a virtual 'counsellor', the Google Zeitgeist says that many people still turn to the Internet with queries such as ‘How to get Pregnant’, ‘How to Kiss’ and ‘How to impress a girl’.

But forget all those pregnancy doubts and art of seduction snippets. Despite all those weird happenings online, IRCTC is still the topper in the chart.

Even though Nokia retained the most searched brand online tag, the entry of new brands like Samsung and Micromax is posing a challenge to the dominance of Nokia, which is facing stiff competition in the market from other smartphone makers to the local brands.

Interestingly, the search for different mobile phone brands is an indication of how central the mobile phone has become for people in today’s world, said Google.

In the film front 'Kites' emerged as the most searched movie, followed by 'Endhiran' and 'Dabangg', British actress Aruna Shields and Bollywood’s new sensation Sonakshi Sinha emerged as the fastest rising people on Internet.

“Google Zeitgeist 2010 is a real reflection of the spirit of the nation. It offers a unique perspective on the year's major events and hottest trends based on searches that Indians did online,” said Vinay Goel, Head of Products, Google India.

Some of the other favorites from Bollywood this year include Katrina Kaif and Zarine Khan, while amongst the men, Salman Khan ruled the web.

Though many people turn to the World Wide Web for music films and so on, that is not dampening the spirit for sports. FIFA World Cup not only grabbed the real world’s attention, but of the virtual world too! Social networking continues to connect many as Facebook, Orkut and YouTube remain in the Top 10 list of the most popular searches, says Google Zeitgeist.
